Fan Favorite Rocco Mediate Wins 2019 Sanford International Using a Bridgestone TOUR B Ball

(COVINGTON, GA) – Bridgestone Golf Tour team member, Rocco Mediate, returned to the PGA TOUR Champions winner’s circle for the first time in three years on Sunday, with a thrilling victory at the 2019 Sanford International.   Mediate finished birdie-birdie to close out his best single round score of the year – a 64 – winning the event by 2 strokes.  Mediate’s victory with Bridgestone’s TOUR B XS golf ball vaults him into top 25 of the current Charles Schwab Cup points standings.

The TOUR B Series golf balls represent Bridgestone’s most technologically-advanced models to date. During development, company engineers used data from nearly 350,000 in-person ball fittings, combined with insights from leading third-party industry sources, to identify needs of specific player types. They then drew on more than 800 golf ball patents to determine which proprietary technologies would most benefit each type of swing characteristics identified.

Mediate carded a 9-under total of 201 to win the 54-hole event in come-from-behind fashion.  Earlier this season, Mediate made the switch to a Bridgestone golf ball after undergoing the first ever ball fitting session of his career.

“The ball fitting with Bridgestone really was an ‘aha’ moment for me,” said Mediate.  “I never really considered how choosing the right golf ball could have a positive effect on all aspects of my game.  These Bridgestone balls really work for me from tee through the green.  This is the most excited I have been about my game in a long time.”
