Major Champions Ariya Jutanugarn, Georgia Hall and Shanshan Feng Confirm Appearance

ONEIDA, WISCONSIN, June 25, 2019 – Rolex Ranking No. 8 and two-time major winner Ariya Jutanugarn and reigning Women’s British Open champion Georgia Hall are the latest stars to commit to the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic from July 4 – 7, 2019.

Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn, who is a former Rolex Ranking No. 1 and Race to the CME Globe winner, heads to Oneida for the third successive year having recorded her best finish last season (T15). The 23-year-old from Bangkok may not have added to her trophy cabinet in 2019 but as a ten-time LPGA winner, her form in trending in the right direction, having finished in the top 10 in her last two LPGA appearances.

Commenting on her return, Ariya Jutanugarn said, “I really enjoyed my experience at Thornberry Creek last year and loved how low scoring the event was. It is always fun making birdies and I enjoy that style of golf. I’m just starting to get my game to where I think it should be and I’m looking forward to hopefully playing well in front of the fans in Oneida, as they really got behind us last time I was there.”

Joining her in the field, which already includes past champions Sei Young Kim and Katherine Kirk as well as Rolex Ranking No. 2 Sung Hyun Park, is Britain’s Georgia Hall and China’s Shanshan Feng.

Hall, who has been vocal about her love of the course in the past, used her 7th place finish as a springboard to her biggest success to date, with victory a few weeks later at the 2018 Ricoh Women’s British Open. Feng, who is became the first Chinese player male or female to win a major championship or become world no. 1, heads to Oneida for her tournament debut.

Speaking about the event, Georgia Hall said, “I really enjoyed everything about this tournament last year from the food to the course to the fans. It was all so welcoming and made me feel extremely comfortable out there, it really is one of my favorite events in my schedule. The golf course is in great condition and it gives you a real confidence boost to see yourself shoot scores in the 60s and, without a doubt, it gave me the confidence to go out there and perform in the weeks that followed.”

Oneida Golf Enterprise Agent Chad Fuss said, “We’re delighted to welcome more of the world’s best players to Thornberry Creek at Oneida. We are extremely proud of our sporting heritage in Oneida and it is pleasing for us to see that many of the best players from around the world want to come and take part in our golf tournament. We hope the fans all enjoy watching the spectacular golf on show.”
