Midwest Match Play Contestants at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

Midwest Match Play taps into the region’s core values, pairing top-tier venues with a competitive format that keeps golfers engaged, connected, and eager to return. By showcasing the best of Midwestern golf, the experience underscores why this part of the country remains one of the most rewarding places to play the game.

What began as a simple idea among friends—bonded by their love of match play competition—quickly evolved into something more. That concept became reality in 2025, when Midwest Match Play hosted its first two events, laying the foundation for continued growth in 2026 and beyond.

The 2026 season opens in style on May 25 at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. Participants will experience the newly unveiled Wee-Nip Short Course before taking on 18 holes at the renowned Brute, creating a day that blends innovation with championship-caliber play.

Each venue is carefully selected to give golfers the opportunity to compete alongside a partner on exceptional courses. Following the initial 18 holes, the top four teams advance to a thrilling derby-style match play finale, where one team is eliminated each hole until a champion emerges.

The second event of the season is set for Saturday, August 8, at PrairieView Golf Club. Known for its scenic vistas and emphasis on shot-making, PrairieView offers a memorable test with its dynamic fairways, intricate green complexes, and striking views—firmly establishing it as one of Illinois’ must-play courses.

Players of all skill levels are invited to join for some amazing golf and a great time with fellow golfers.

Testimonials

“The Midwest Match Play series was a great way to get our players a chance to compete while also meeting some other like-minded individuals. We are always trying to come up with creative ways to keep our core players engaged and this filled that need for us. The group of guys make the events what they are no matter what course is hosting. While it’s nice to take home some cash, the camaraderie that was built over just a couple rounds was obvious. Can’t wait to play in the 2026 events!”  -Nic Barnes (Head Golf Professional at PrairieView)

“Great first class event run with an awesome blend of competitiveness and comradery.  Love the range of skill level of players that play and awesome to meet some great golfers that live nearby.”-Austin Gaugert (Current PGA Tour Caddy, Valparaiso Golf Alum and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Resident)

Glen’s ultimate golf goal is to play in all fifty states and currently he is more than half way there. His other dream, albeit far-fetched, it to record an ace in all seven states of our distribution area. Thanks to an ace in Illinois in 2015, and one in Michigan in 2016, he has three down, four to go!
