New Pete Dye course at Chatham Hills Opens This Fall

INDIANAPOLIS – In 1962, a young Pete Dye completed his first course in Greenwood, Indiana. 54 years, 179 golf courses, and a PGA Lifetime Achievement Award later, Dye has designed his latest masterpiece just minutes away from Indianapolis in Westfield, Indiana.
Using streams, ravines, hills and forests on land that was originally purchased in 1835 as part of the Northwest Territory and passed down for eight generations, Dye spent five years and hundreds of hours crafting a championship course at Chatham Hills, a spectacular and brand new course and community. The par 72, 7215-yard course is part of an upscale residential community featuring nature trails, 40 acres of parks, clubhouse with swimming, fitness, tennis, dining, bowling and more.

“
Returning to Indiana to complete a brand new course on historic land was incredibly important to me,” said Pete Dye, Golf Course Designer. “The challenge at Chatham Hills was making the course bend to follow the unique contours, rolling hills and flowing creeks present in the land – elements that are typically foreign to most Midwestern golf courses. The new community is situated on 800 acres of land and has 85 feet of elevation change, offering golfers a picturesque, challenging and fun day on the links.”

Built around the championship golf course, Chatham Hills also has plenty to offer families and non-golfers. Scenic views, untouched wilderness, direct access to the Monon Trail and the unique social experience of a clubhouse interests those looking for a relaxing retreat just minutes from standard amenities and comforts.
All residents and members will have access to a 9-Hole Executive Par-3 Course, also designed by Pete Dye, to help accommodate and encourage beginner golfers, children and seniors or for quick, everyday play. Homes have been carefully planned around the course to allow the natural features to remain with more than 250 acres have been preserved in order to provide golfers and residents with a natural escape just minutes from an urban metropolis.

“
Chatham Hills is the ultimate in year-round golf course resort living, nestled along the creeks, ravines and woodedhills of a beautiful championship Pete Dye golf course,” said Steve Henke, partner of Henke Development Group, the developer of Chatham Hills. “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with my good friend, Mr. Dye, in the planning and development of this outstanding community.”
Pete and Alice Dye hit the inaugural tee shots at the grand opening event on September 29, 2016. Homes and custom building sites are now available. More information can be found at chathamhills.com.

Glen’s ultimate golf goal is to play in all fifty states and currently he is more than half way there. His other dream, albeit far-fetched, it to record an ace in all seven states of our distribution area. Thanks to an ace in Illinois in 2015, and one in Michigan in 2016, he has three down, four to go!
