District 5 Director Will Represent Michigan,
Northern Ohio and Southern Ohio PGA Sections
FRISCO, Texas – Kevin McKinley, a 23-year PGA of America Golf Professional and Executive Director of the First Tee Northern Michigan, has joined the PGA of America Board of Directors as District 5 Director. He was elected today at the 109th PGA Annual Meeting, held in Frisco, Texas, at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort. McKinley will serve a three-year term representing the Michigan, Northern Ohio and Southern Ohio PGA Sections.
McKinley, who previously spent 18 years at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan, has collected numerous accolades during his career. In 2017, he was recognized with the PGA of America’s Patriot Award, given to a PGA Professional who embodies Patriotism and shows dedication to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. McKinley was honored with the Michigan PGA’s Patriot Award on three separate occasions (2013, 2015, 2016), and as Michigan PGA’s Golf Professional of the Year (2017) and Golf Executive of the Year (2022). He also has been honored by the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Army National Guard, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Michigan Golf Course Association and as the “National Father of the Year Award” from Golfweek Magazine.
McKinley’s service to the PGA of America began as an officer of Michigan PGA’s Northern Chapter, progressing to the Section Level first as an at-large member of the Michigan PGA Board of Directors and then holding all three Officer positions at the Michigan Section. McKinley was responsible for enhancing the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame process—writing and delivering a Section Orientation Program, leading a Strategic Planning Effort and conducting a rewrite of the Michigan PGA Constitution. Nationally, McKinley has served on the PGA of America’s Inclusion, Special Awards, Adult Player Development and Membership Committees as well as Vice Chair of the PGA Jr. League Committee.
“It’s an incredible honor to be elected to the PGA of America Board of Directors and to represent the dedicated PGA of America Golf Professionals of District 5,” said McKinley. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members to continue advancing our mission of growing the game and supporting the professionals who bring golf to life every day.”
McKinley, his wife Jill and their seven children reside in Gaylord, Michigan.
