Madden’s On Gull Lake Named A Top 5 Resort In The Midwest By Condé Nast Traveler For Fifth Consecutive Year

Madden’s on Gull Lake has once again earned national recognition, being named one of the Top 5 Resorts in the Midwest in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. This marks the fifth consecutive year—since 2021—that Madden’s has appeared in the top tier of this prestigious list. This year, Madden’s is also the only resort in Minnesota to be included.
What makes the Readers’ Choice Awards so meaningful is that they are decided by the people who matter most—guests. Unlike editorial selections or industry rankings, the awards reflect the voices of travelers themselves, and Madden’s achievement is especially notable given its seasonal operation.
“This recognition is truly a reflection of the heart of Madden’s—our guests and our employees,” said Abbey Pieper, Chief Sales & Marketing Office and 3rd Generation Owner-Operator. “Our guests continue to share their love for Madden’s year after year, and our employees pour their passion and care into every detail of their stay. To know that their efforts are valued so deeply is humbling. Being family-owned for nearly a century, we’re proud to carry on a tradition that connects generations of travelers with the people and the place that make Madden’s so special.”
Founded in 1929, Madden’s remains one of the few family-owned and operated resorts of its caliber, a distinction that is becoming increasingly rare as properties across the country transition to corporate and investment ownership. Madden’s commitment to personal service, multigenerational traditions, and authentic lakeside hospitality has set it apart for nearly a century.
With four golf courses, a lakeside spa, award-winning dining, and a wide range of family-friendly activities, Madden’s continues to be a premier destination where travelers reconnect with what matters most.

Glen’s ultimate golf goal is to play in all fifty states and currently he is more than half way there. His other dream, albeit far-fetched, it to record an ace in all seven states of our distribution area. Thanks to an ace in Illinois in 2015, and one in Michigan in 2016, he has three down, four to go!
