Jack Nicklaus Course Opens to Rave Reviews in Big Sky, Montana – The Reserve at Moonlight Basin

Big Sky, Montana – 2016 will mark the first full season for the 18-hole RESERVE golf course at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana. Nestled in the alpine forest at 7,500 feet above sea level, this undulating, mountain course serves up an unparalleled golf experience with awe-inspiring views to Lone Peak. This Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is the latest world-class amenity in the Moonlight Basin lifestyle community already offering ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort, miles of hiking and biking trail, and alpine lakes and trout-streams. To learn more about The RESERVE and other Moonlight Club benefits and amenities visit www.moonlightbasin.com or call (406) 209-4367.
Construction on the back nine and practice area was completed in the summer of 2014, with the front nine finishing up summer 2015. Playing to 8,000 yards from the tips, the RESERVE can dish out as much challenge as one desires while offering four sets of tee boxes to temper it appropriately. A comfort station mid-course spoils with snacks and drinks along the way with a new golf clubhouse adding a mountain-contemporary setting to enjoy a drink or meal post-round.
To fully appreciate the setting for this fantastic new golf course it helps to understand the vision for Moonlight Basin. This community began with the purchase of 25,000 acres of land at the end of road above Big Sky Resort with a focus on building a lifestyle community centered on outdoor experiences and adventures. Currently, half of the land is protected in perpetuity by conservation easements, giving this golf course its 360 degree views of beautiful Montana wilderness.
The par-72 course serves up 5 par fives, 8 par fours and 5 three pars with risk-reward options abounding. With four sets of tee boxes per hole, over 2 acres of greens, 64 bunkers, and the ever-changing blooms and colors of the surrounding mountains, the course never plays the same twice.
Moonlight Basin is an 8,100-acre community offering mountain homes and home sites with ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort‘s 5,800 skiable acres. Moonlight Club amenities in addition to the golf course and clubhouse include a ski lodge, alpine lakes, miles of hiking and biking trails, and gin-clear trout streams.  Moonlight Basin is an hour drive in one direction from Bozeman and its international airport and in the other direction to the natural wonders of Yellowstone National Park.

Glen’s ultimate golf goal is to play in all fifty states and currently he is more than half way there. His other dream, albeit far-fetched, it to record an ace in all seven states of our distribution area. Thanks to an ace in Illinois in 2015, and one in Michigan in 2016, he has three down, four to go!
