National camp program connects junior golfers with top DIII coaches and educates parents on college golf and the recruiting process
College Golf Experience (CGX) brings junior golfers, parents, and college coaches together to learn from each other, gain exposure, and educate young men and women on the college golf landscape and the path to get there through transformational events. These events help players and parents understand the path to finding their ideal fit and program. This includes learning about the unique DIII recruiting pathway, Q & A sessions, simulated college golf practice and tournament rounds, oncourse management and strategy sessions.
CGX’s DIII Midwest Exposure Camp for girls and boys will be held at Mistwood Golf Club on June 18-19, 2024.
The girl’s and boy’s DIII Exposure Camps are now open for registration and will feature five top women’s coaches and five top men’s coaches connecting with 48 juniors ages 13-18 who want to level up their game and build relationships with DIII coaches in an immersive educational environment. CGX DIII Exposure Camps allow coaches to interact and get to know the players and their personalities, while helping guide them to their right program fit. Illinois Wesleyan Men’s Golf Coach Jim Ott is looking forward to his first CGX camp and connecting with juniors:
“CGX Camps provide a phenomenal experience, getting to spend quality time with young golfers, getting to know them on a personal level and how they handle themselves and what their personalities are like. Seeing their golfing skills is important, but you also get to learn more about the person and how passionate they are by the questions they ask. We get to see how they might fit in with our team culture,” he explains. “Kids walk away from these camps with a lot more confidence than they came in with because of the on-course time with coaches and the Q&A sessions with a panel of coaches answering everything they’ve ever wanted to know about college golf. And, as coaches, we get to see how dedicated and passionate the players are about pursuing their college golf goals.”
Mistwood Golf Club, known for being one of the top public facilities in the Chicago area, is also the place where competitive young golfers gather through its Committed Athlete Program (CAP). The top facility has built a strong reputation for being the training facility for top junior golfers around Chicago who are interested in preparing for the competitive side of golf. This dynamic and comprehensive program, which enables young golfers to have fun while acquiring the necessary fundamentals and skills required to improve and excel in the sport, is a perfect venue to host a CGX Exposure Camp.
“Our mission with the Mistwood Committed Athlete Program is not just helping young golfers improve and get better competitively, but also helping them achieve their goals of playing college golf,” said Andy Mickelson, Mistwood’s Director of Golf. “College Golf Experience and how they work with college coaches and bring in top coaches for juniors and their parents to learn from is exactly the type of camp program we want to work with.”
