An Exciting New Era Begins at the Acclaimed Private Club Featuring Two Award-Winning Golf Courses, 80 Lodging Rooms, Adventurous Outdoor Excursions, and Diverse Dining Options

MULLEN, NEB., Jan. 9, 2024 – Dismal River Club in Mullen, Neb., today proudly announced DRC Investors, LLC. as the new owner of the premier private club, marking an exciting new chapter in the club’s storied history. Under new ownership, the club is set to bolster its reputation as one of the Midwest’s most esteemed private clubs and further enrich the member and guest experience through a dedication to delivering unparalleled service and exclusive offerings.

KemperSports, a leading golf, sports, entertainment and hospitality company, will remain as manager of club operations at Dismal River Club.

“I am super excited to embark on this new journey to put Dismal River in a class of its own,” said Alan Erickson, president of the DRC Investors Board of Directors. “Our goal will be to begin a new chapter at Dismal River and carry out our mission of creating a memorable and unique experience for our members and guests in this serene and remote location.”

“Dismal River is truly a one-of-a-kind club,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “It’s Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak-designed courses stand among the region’s best, and the club’s amenities and unique experiences are top notch. We are honored to be entrusted with DRC Investors vision of enhancing and expanding upon this extraordinary private club.”

Nestled among the Sandhills of western Nebraska, Dismal River has been a magnet for golf enthusiasts globally since its Jack Nicklaus-designed White Course debuted in 2006. The Red Course, a creation of Tom Doak, followed in 2013, garnering widespread acclaim. Under DRC Investors leadership, the club is set to continue its trajectory of growth that already boasts 80 rooms, 17 guided hunting and fishing experiences, a variety of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, and mountain biking, rustic lodging amenities and multiple dining options.

Further enhancing the club’s offerings, Dismal River is set to introduce an additional 20 rooms housed in luxurious four-bedroom cabins later this year as a complement to the existing accommodations.

His other dream, albeit far-fetched, it to record an ace in all seven states of our distribution area. Thanks to an ace in Illinois in 2015, and one in Michigan in 2016, he has three down, four to go!
