Joe Charles is Back For his 5th Season as Director of Instruction at Treetops Resort

Gaylord, MI –Students have traveled from all over the world to improve their game at Treetops’ Golf Academy. Top-notch instruction continues to be a Treetops staple, as they pride themselves on programs geared for students of all golfing levels. Joe Charles (Director of Instruction) is excited to be returning for his 5th golf season at Treetops. This year Treetops Resort has some great programs scheduled at the Golf Academy intended to help all players of any ability level enjoy playing golf more!

Juniors
Treetops is lucky to have Joe, who is TPI Level 2 Junior certified golf professional as well as a US Kids Golf certified professional. Joe is excited to introduce a new junior development program that will begin in May and end in October of 2020. This program will be perfect for kids age 7-17 who want to become high school and eventually even college level golfers. It will take place on Wednesday evenings and will incorporate golf physical conditioning, short game, full swing, and mental strengthening for golf.
Treetops will also be continuing its PGA Jr League program which has been a great success in getting kids started playing golf. Visit www.pgajrleague.com for more details. This will also be Treetops second year running a PGA Family Cup event of which Treetops is one of the pilot facilities nationwide. This is a unique event that gets the whole family playing this great game together and will take place in August of 2020. Visit www.pgafamilycup.com for more details!

Local Northern Michigan Golfers
Get Golf Ready and Get Golf Ready Extreme is another program that will help introduce new golfers to the game. Get Golf Ready is a fun series of 5 lessons that Joe teaches every spring where students take part in a group lesson each week that helps them learn some of the fundamentals that are crucial for enjoying golf. In addition students play 4 holes of golf on the Jones Masterpiece golf course, the clinics are spread out along the course of those holes so the students learn the new skills while they are actually playing the game!

Golf Schools
Treetops Resort has one, two, and three-day golf schools available which is a great experience for people who want to immerse themselves in the game for multiple days. During the golf schools they will have plenty of time to utilize state of the art technology (V1 Video Analysis, Foresight Launch Monitor) that helps Joe and his team diagnose swing faults and teach new movements that help people accomplish their goals. The highlight of every golf school for Joe is the wrap up session that he does with students where they re-visit the goals they came to Treetops with, and then look at their before swing on video (the swing they had on the first day of school) and the after swing (the swing on the last day of school) side by side. The students get pretty excited about the changes that they have made in a pretty short period of time!

Private Lessons
Many of Joe and his teams most dedicated students take part of one of the many lesson packages that they offer. The first session is typically a planning period where they do an interview, physical evaluation, and finally Joe videos their swing and talks about some of the changes that they might make together so that they can accomplish their goals. Not only does Joe and his student spend time on the range working on full swing changes, but also on the course talking about SCORING and how to get the ball in the hole quicker. It’s a lot of fun to build those relationships over time and see players accomplish their goals and enjoy the game more!
