Refreshed golf course and newly opened The Orchard Social restaurant represent new chapter for award-winning Chicagoland property

Orchard Valley Golf Course in Aurora, Illinois, will reopen for public play on Saturday, September 5, after completing a 22-month, $8.8 million renovation project aimed at modernizing the 31-year-old facility. Orchard Valley Golf Course will begin accepting tee time reservations on Saturday, August 22 at www.orchardvalleygolf.com.

The comprehensive renovation, funded through bond proceeds and the Fox Valley Park District’s existing capital development fund, began in November 2024. Key improvements include:

  • Installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system
  • Renovation, realignment, relocation, and reconstruction of bunkers
  • Addition of new retaining walls on holes No. 2 and 17
  • Refreshment and expansion of select greens
  • Expansion and resurfacing of tee boxes
  • Re-grassing of tees, fairways, and greens with disease-resistant seed varieties
  • Realignment and reconstruction of select cart paths
  • Addition of a fairway on hole No. 13 through partial wetland fill-in

Greg Martin, of Sugar Grove-based Martin Design Golf, was engaged by the Fox Valley Park District to identify and prioritize capital repair projects, while Plainfield-based Wadsworth Golf Construction Company performed the renovation work.

In addition to enhancing the golf course, the Fox Valley Park District invested in upgrading the dining facilities. The Orchard Social, the property’s reimagined restaurant, reopened to the public on August 14. The 194-seat venue offers multiple indoor and outdoor dining areas, private event spaces, a full-service bar, an expanded patio with a fireplace, 17 televisions, and an integrated sound system, catering to a variety of occasions from casual dinners to business gatherings. The Orchard Social was designed to be much more than a golfer’s clubhouse restaurant. Featuring panoramic views of the championship course and a warm, modern atmosphere, the restaurant welcomes everyone, from golfers finishing a round to neighbors gathering for dinner, drinks or a night out with friends.

Orchard Valley Golf Course is owned by the Fox Valley Park District and professionally managed by Troon Golf, the daily-fee and resort division of Troon.
