Sure, our publication in named Midwest Golfing Magazine, but we pride
ourselves on finding amazing travel spots for our readers outside of our
eight-state distribution area. For as any Midwesterner knows, it’s hard
to tee it up when snow is up to your waist in the dead of winter. So, our
Fall Issue focuses on where you can go to keep your golf season alive.
We begin with features on three southern states that are golf centric –
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Even though all three are bordered
by The Gulf of Mexico, each state has taken a different approach to
luring golfers their way. Louisiana does it with the popular Louisiana
Golf Trails, Mississippi ties in gambling to the golf equation, while
Alabama boasts incredible golf in the Gulf Shores region that matches
perfectly with their stunning Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
If you’d prefer to go west instead of south, MGM has you covered
with a feature on one of our all-time favorites, Wolf Creek in Mesquite,
Nevada. This otherworldly golf experience is the closest you’ll feel to
golfing on the moon – I promise.
But our Fall Issue isn’t all about warm weather destinations, as
we have articles on Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, IL and Fox
Hills Golf & Conference Center in Plymouth, MI. Both properties are
blessed with 63 holes, giving golfers the option to enjoy a 3-to-4-day trip
without ever leaving the properties.
Looking for a stunning destination that’s within our distribution
area, and features incredible weather year-round? Then Big Cedar Golf
near Branson, Missouri has to be on your bucket list. 77 holes of
world-class golf designed of the greats of game including Nicklaus,
Player, and Woods have transformed America’s Live Music Capital into
one of the top emerging golf destinations in the country.
The moniker “America’s Summer Golf Capital” belongs to the seven
resort properties and 22 courses in and around Traverse City and Petoskey,
Michigan. As Editor Glen Turk reports, any time between May and October
is the perfect time to visit this golfer’s paradise.
We are also thrilled to feature PXG Golf, and the larger-than-life
personality of founder Bob Parsons. Glen Turk had the great opportunity
to sit down with Mr. Parsons during a Chicago-area store opening
earlier this season and left thoroughly impressed with his commitment
to excellence.
Finally, an MGM Fall Issue wouldn’t be complete without our Editor’s
Choice Awards, Chip Shots, and our Pro Page by Michael Crowley of
Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, WI. Amazingly, when we talk
next, MGM will have turned 21. Heck, I’ve got replaced hips that are
older than that!
